HEGARTY BROTHERS JOIN REEVES RACING

Following a successful test at Cartagena in Spain, world champion sidecar racer Tim Reeves is pleased to announce that three times British champions Sean and Mark Hegarty are to join Team Eastern Airways and run alongside the double world champions to contest the 2007 World Sidecar Championship.

The Felixstowe brothers put the Eastern Airways 1000cc Suzuki through its paces over three days at Cartagena and immediately gelled with the new outfit and despite being hampered by the wet weather on Monday afternoon posted some fast times during the rest of the three day test.

Sean Hegarty (32) is delighted to be joining Team Eastern Airways and said: “What can I say, we couldn’t have teamed up with anyone better than the current world champions.

We will be sticking with the Windle chassis for next season as we have run with that for a long time now and are really comfortable with it. Although we will be keeping our lucky # 33 race number we will be running in the Eastern Airways colours.”

Tim Reeves said: “I am delighted to welcome the Hegarty brothers to Team Eastern Airways and I am sure they will be a valuable addition to the team and soon be in a position to challenge for podium positions in the 2007 world series.”

“I have also been busy over the past few weeks being invited to attend the BBC South East Sports awards at Gillingham in early December followed up by attending the BBC Sports Personality of the Year show at the NEC where Tristan and myself were honoured to be seated at the same table as Zara Phillips who walked away with the top award.

“I am also pleased to be able to announce the continued backing of our major sponsors namely: Eastern Airways, Lime Logistics, H & S Contractors, Morris Lubricants, Yokohama Tyres, Arai Helmets and Ringway Infrastructure Services with more to be announced shortly.”

The 2007 dates have yet to be finalised but the provisional world championship dates are as follows: March 18, Melbourne, Australia (tbc); April 1, (tba); May 13, Schleiz, Germany; June 24, Nurburgring, Germany (tbc); June 30, Assen, Netherlands; July 15, Sachsenring, Germany; July 22, Salzburgring, Austria; August 19, Rijeka, Croatia; September 9 (tba); October 14 (tba).

There is also a proposed four or six round British series for F1 sidecars planned at high profile meetings in the UK but this has still to be finalised.
