Tim and Tristan Reeves win at Donington

Despite adverse weather conditions current World Sidecar champions Tim and Tristan Reeves from Maidstone in Kent rode to a resounding victory in the Steve Webster International Trophy race at Donington Park on Sunday.

Tim and Tristan dominated qualifying, heading the times in each of the free practise and qualifying periods to set pole with a quick time of 1m 37.6s – 72.65mph at the 2.5 mile Leicestershire circuit.

Because of the hold-ups in previous races the Sidecar event was an hour late getting underway and by the time the outfits presented themselves on the grid the rain was falling and the temperature had plummeted to near zero.

But although Stuart Muldoon got the hole shot into Redgate it was Tim and Tristan that forged ahead on the Eastern Airways LCR Suzuki and never looked back.  They didn’t have it all their own way however as they were closely followed by Muldoon who crossed the finish line just under a second behind the World Champions.

“We are honoured to be the first winners of the Steve Webster Trophy,” said Tim.

“The weather was awful, we were sliding around all over the place but knuckled down and got on with the job and did just enough to secure the win. There was no point in try to go for fast laps in those conditions.

“I have never ridden in such horrific conditions before in my life, the tyres didn’t get any heat in them all race and the track temperature was just one degree.  We were frozen stiff and very grateful to see the chequered flag waved at us.”

Tim and Tristan are running in new colours of red, white, blue and green and under the name of Team Eastern Airways who are to be their title sponsors.

Other sponsors adding their names to the new paintwork are: Lime Logistics, Goody Demolition, Commercial Tyres, Morris Lubricants, Ringway Infrastructure Services, West Thurrock Coach Works and D. W. Roberts.

“I am grateful to all these sponsors I have on board,” said Tim. “ Especially D.W.Roberts who were my team from last year. Sadly team owner Dave Roberts died during the year but I am pleased to say that the company have again pledged their support for 2006 and I am honoured to be able to carry Dave’s name on.”

Tim and Tristan’s World Championship campaign is:

June 11 - Castle Combe;
July 16 – Assen;
July 16 – Sachenring;
August 6 – Salzburg;
August 13 – Rijeka;
