Tim and Tristan Reeves Double win in Ireland

Tim and Tristan Reeves took their world championship winning LCR Suzuki over to Ireland on Saturday where in front of a huge contingent of Irish racing fans they rode to a winning double to lift the Marty Murphy Memorial Cup.

The Reeves brothers qualified for a front row start to the set of two races and powered through to take a resounding victory each time from the Birchall brothers Ben and Tom with yet more brothers, Sean and Mark Hegarty third in each race.

Race one saw Tim and Tristan settle into fourth place before squirting on the power to take the lead on lap two of nine. Once they hit the front they were never troubled and set a new lap record of 1m 11.657 seconds on their way to the chequered flag.

The second race saw Tim and Tris take command on the opening lap and lead the field to a lights to chequered flag victory crossing the finishing line with a 5.47 second advantage over the Birchall brothers.

“We have really enjoyed our visit to Bishopscourt,” said Tim. “The fans have been great and shown a real interest in the sidecars. We would love to return here again next year and have already pencilled it into our calendar.

“It must be a first time that three sets of brothers have stepped onto a podium together – not just the once but twice at the same meeting and in the same order. It’s uncanny - wonder what odds we could have got on that happening!”

Tim and Tristan will see race action again on Sunday when they defend their Sidecar Burn Up title on home tarmac at Lydden Hill. This will be the final race of the season for the world championship winning sidecar racers and they intend to go out with a win.

“We have won the title on three occasions prior to the coming weekend and have every intention of making it four,” said Tim.

Tim and Tristan have been invited to attend the BBC Sports Personality of the Year show that takes place on the evening of December 10.
